At Walker Crips, we’re always proud to support colleagues who support causes that are close to their hearts, especially those that go the extra mile. On the 31st May, our Head of Group Compliance, Anthony Smith, did exactly that. Anthony and four friends took on the 2026 Mendip Challenge, a fundraising event by Weston Hospicecare, tackling a 30-mile route around Weston-Super-Mare.
This is Anthony’s fourth go at this challenge, and, as Anthony puts it:
“This is my fourth attempt with the Woodspring ramblers and I must be mad. A lot of my group have had friends and fellow ramblers that have used the hospice, and it desperately needs charitable donations to continue providing its services.”
Supporting Weston Hospice care
The Mendip Challenge is Weston Hospicecare’s largest annual fundraising event, helping to fund the vital care they provide to individuals and families facing end-of-life diagnoses.
Their work goes far beyond medical care. Their dedicated team offers emotional, psychological, social, spiritual and physical support, helping patients and their loved ones navigate one of life’s most difficult journeys.
With only 20% of their funding coming from the NHS, Weston Hospice care must raise £5.5 million each year — a target made possible thanks to the generosity of the community.
How you can help
Anthony is raising funds to support this incredible cause, and any contribution — big or small — can make a meaningful difference.
If you’d like to support Anthony and help Weston Hospice care continue their vital work, you can donate via his JustGiving page.
Important Note
No news or research content is a recommendation to deal. It is important to remember that the value of investments and the income from them can go down as well as up, so you could get back less than you invest. If you have any doubts about the suitability of any investment for your circumstances, you should contact your financial advisor.
