1 May 2026
At Walker Crips, we’re always proud to support colleagues who go the extra mile for causes that matter — and this month, our Head of Group Compliance, Anthony Smith, is doing exactly that (and then some).
On 31st May 2026, Anthony and four friends will be taking on the Mendip Challenge 2026, a fundraising event organised by Weston Hospicecare. Participants can choose from routes ranging from 5 to 30 miles. Anthony and his team will be tackling the full 30-mile route.
This isn’t Anthony’s first time taking part. In fact, it’s his fourth attempt. As Anthony puts it:
“This is my fourth attempt with the Woodspring ramblers and I must be mad. A lot of my group have had friends and fellow ramblers that have used the hospice and it desperately needs charitable donations to continue providing its services.”
Supporting Weston Hospicecare
The Mendip Challenge is Weston Hospicecare’s largest annual fundraising event, helping to fund the vital care they provide to individuals and families facing end-of-life diagnoses.
Their work goes far beyond medical care. Their dedicated team offers emotional, psychological, social, spiritual and physical support, helping patients and their loved ones navigate one of life’s most difficult journeys.
With only 20% of their funding coming from the NHS, Weston Hospicecare must raise £5.5 million each year — a target made possible thanks to the generosity of the community.
How you can help
Anthony is raising funds to support this incredible cause, and any contribution — big or small — can make a meaningful difference.
If you’d like to support Anthony and help Weston Hospicecare continue their vital work, you can donate via his JustGiving page.
We wish Anthony and his fellow walkers the very best of luck for the challenge!
Important Note
No news or research content is a recommendation to deal. It is important to remember that the value of investments and the income from them can go down as well as up, so you could get back less than you invest. If you have any doubts about the suitability of any investment for your circumstances, you should contact your financial advisor.
