Warning: Beware of clone websites and online scams

18 June 2025

Earlier this month, we became aware of a fraudulent overseas-based website impersonating Walker Crips Investment Management Limited (“WCIM”) by using the “Walker Crips” name. This clone site used a domain name very similar to our official ones and falsely claimed to offer a Contracts for Difference (“CFD”) trading platform. It invited visitors to register and deposit funds via cryptocurrency - something Walker Crips does not offer.

We acted quickly by reporting the website to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Action Fraud. We are pleased to confirm that the fraudulent website has been taken offline - for the time being, at least.

Stay vigilant

While online tools and platforms bring convenience, they also create opportunities for fraudsters. Clone websites are designed to look legitimate and can easily mislead even experienced investors. That’s why we encourage all our clients to remain cautious and double-check they are dealing with the real Walker Crips before sharing any personal or financial information online.

Here are a few ways to stay safe:

  • Always ensure the website address (URL) is correct and includes https://www.walkercrips.co.uk or https://www.wcgplc.co.uk - which are the two official secure domains used by WCIM.
  • Never send money or provide personal details to anyone unless you’re certain they’re a verified representative.
  • Be wary of unsolicited emails, calls or messages, especially those requesting urgent action.
  • If in doubt, contact your Walker Crips Investment Manager or Account Executive directly.

Important Note
No news or research content is a recommendation to deal. It is important to remember that the value of investments and the income from them can go down as well as up, so you could get back less than you invest. If you have any doubts about the suitability of any investment for your circumstances, you should contact your financial advisor.
